Post-Bar Chronicles Part II: This is not the Summer Vacation I was Promised
[EDIT: I wrote this post in mid-August, but unfortunately I am not uploading it until now. “Overdue” is generous given that my bar results are out, but oh well. There’s a lot to catch up on. Regardless, I hope everyone enjoys this mundane, anticlimactic update. More to come soon.]
Being honest, I do not have anything crazy to share regarding the past week of my life. I imagined myself during this time getting sh*t done, working out everyday, being productive, and getting myself ready for the next phase of life I am entering. That has sort of been the case. I have done a lot of self-reflecting and pondering, in which I have realized that I am a person who really needs a routine.
I don’t do well with having nothing to do. I have an exorbitant work ethic and a breaded mindset, which makes my life so difficult during these times.
My days have generally felt like blobs of time. I don’t have a car right now (exploded) so any out-of-house activities have been on foot. I usually do Pilates classes for my workouts, but since I don’t currently have transportation I have been working out at home. I really don’t enjoy working out at home, but I am trying to incorporate it more into my life because workout classes get expensive. I tried to motivate myself by purchasing some used exercise equipment on Vinted, which I highly recommend. I got an exercise ring and 3 resistance bands for $8.69.
I have also spent a lot of time uploading to Depop (Vinted, Poshmark, etc.). Sales have been sporadic, but that is just something you have to deal with as a business owner.
I’ve been trying to use my free time to make some new meals. Thus far, I’ve made beef shawarma (inedible), tzatziki (very good), and shrimp with zoodles (life changing). I got ahead of myself with the beef shawarma and used too much meat so my sheets were too thick. I don’t have a photo to share, but I think that’s for the best. I’m going to give it another try though in the next few weeks and hopefully I learn from my mistakes. On the other hand, I made zoodles for the first time. Words cannot describe how delicious these things are. They are amazing vessels for flavor, which makes them very versatile. I cook them in lemon, garlic, and basil pesto, and it literally feels like a lemon bomb went off in your mouth.
